FARMINGTON, Minn. -- Farmington Tigers Girls Volleyball secured a decisive 3-0 victory over the Rochester Mayo Spartans, marking their first win against the Spartans since September 18, 2018.
The match, played on August 24, 2024, saw the Tigers bounce back from a tight first set before taking complete control in the final two sets.
Rochester Mayo dominated most of the opening set, pushing to a 24-20 lead and earning a set point. However, a well-timed timeout by Coach Woody sparked a remarkable comeback, with the Tigers rattling off six consecutive points to claim the set 26-24.
The momentum carried into the second set, where Farmington delivered a commanding performance, winning 25-8 after leading the entire way.
The third set started with the Tigers building an early 4-1 lead, but the Spartans fought back, making it a close contest. Yet, another strategic timeout proved pivotal, as Farmington rallied late to close out the match with a 25-22 victory.
The win brings the Tigers to 1-1 on the season and gives them a significant victory over a Section 1 AAAA opponent.
In a dominant day for the program, all five levels—Varsity, JV, B-Squad, 9A, and 9B—secured victories against the Spartans.
