WACONIA, Minn. – The Farmington High School girls basketball team opened its 2025-26 season on the road Thursday night with a 65-51 loss to the Waconia Wildcats at Waconia High School. The Tigers battled throughout the contest but were unable to recover from a double-digit first-half deficit.
RECAP
Farmington trailed 33-22 at halftime after shooting just 24.6 percent from the field in the first half. The Tigers improved their scoring in the second half, putting up 29 points, but Waconia matched the effort and maintained control to close out the game.
Turnovers proved costly for the Tigers, who gave the ball away 26 times compared to Waconia's 18. Waconia turned those opportunities into 19 points off turnovers, while also generating 21 transition points.
Despite the loss, Farmington grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and tallied 23 deflections. The Tigers finished with 10 assists and 9 steals, but shot just 25 percent from the field overall, including 4-for-17 from three-point range.
TOP TIGERS
- Ashley Harrison led Farmington with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting, including three three-pointers. She added six rebounds, four steals, and three assists in 28 minutes of action.
- Carly Olson contributed 11 points, going 3-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 at the line. She also had three steals and one assist.
- Maddie Seppala added five points and pulled down four offensive rebounds while recording five deflections and two steals.
- Sadie Spolarich hit a three-pointer and finished with three points, two rebounds, and two steals.
- Scarlett Hedrick scored two points, grabbed five rebounds, and added two steals in 21 minutes.
- Ayla Kroener chipped in three points, one assist, and two rebounds off the bench.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will look to bounce back in their home opener next week as they continue non-conference play.
