Boys Basketball Holds Off Rochester Mayo to Advance in Section 1AAAA Playoffs

FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers secured a 57-52 victory over Rochester Mayo on Wednesday night in the Section 1AAAA quarterfinals at Farmington High School. The Tigers never trailed after the midway point of the first half, maintaining control in a physical, defensive battle to advance to the semifinals.

RECAP
Farmington would trail only three times in the game and never by more than 2 points, and would respond each time to reclaim the lead. The Tigers took a 25-24 advantage into halftime behind balanced scoring and strong defensive efforts that forced 16 Mayo turnovers.

In the second half, Farmington extended its lead, outscoring the Spartans 32-28. The Tigers' transition offense provided a spark, with 12 fast-break points while holding Mayo to zero. Farmington's defense was key down the stretch, limiting Mayo to 30.2% shooting from the field and just 28.6% on two-point attempts.

Marshall Gordon and Nik Domier led the way offensively, each finishing with 12 points. Briggs Sheridan added 11 points, while Ryan Beckwith contributed nine. The Tigers also controlled the paint, scoring 36 points inside compared to Mayo's 20.
