RECAP
Farmington struck first with an opening basket to take a 2-0 lead, but the advantage was short-lived. Rochester John Marshall responded quickly and controlled the remainder of the game, using a strong defensive effort to limit the Tigers to just 22.8% shooting from the field.
Despite Farmington's efforts, the Rockets took a 31-20 lead into halftime and continued to build their advantage in the second half. Rochester John Marshall dominated the paint, outscoring the Tigers 42-16 inside and holding a 32-21 edge in defensive rebounds. Second-chance opportunities also played a role, as the Rockets capitalized on 14 second-chance points compared to just one for Farmington.
Ryan Beckwith led the Tigers with 12 points, knocking down three three-pointers in the effort. Marshall Gordon added 11 points and five rebounds, while Nik Domier contributed five points. The Tigers forced 13 turnovers but were unable to capitalize enough offensively to mount a comeback.
The loss marks the final game for a talented senior class, including Ben Helgemoe, Ryan Beckwith, Marshall Gordon, Nik Domier, Justin Stoneburg, and Cole Wilcek. Their leadership and contributions have been instrumental in the program's success over the past two seasons including the 2023-24 Class AAAA State Tournament trip marking the first trip to the tournament for boys basketball since 1937.
