FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers opened their 2025 girls lacrosse season on a high note Friday night, earning a 12-9 victory over the Southwest Christian Stars under the lights at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers used a balanced offensive attack and a strong second-half defensive stand to secure the non-conference win.
RECAP
Senior attacker Jaida Steffes opened the scoring for Farmington just minutes into the game, converting a pass from Riley Wicklund. Southwest Christian responded with four unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead before the Tigers found their rhythm late in the first quarter. Steffes scored again—this time assisted by Amanda Kubes—before Wicklund added a goal of her own, assisted by Steffes, to close the gap to 4-3 by the end of the opening quarter.
Farmington evened the score early in the second when Wicklund netted her second goal, assisted again by Steffes. The Tigers briefly pulled ahead 6-4 behind goals from Lucy Warner and Kubes, but the Stars battled back to regain a 7-6 lead. With under a minute remaining in the half, Kubes found the net once more to send the game into halftime tied at 7-7.
The Tigers seized control in the third quarter. Steffes scored back-to-back goals—one unassisted and one off a feed from Amara Zens—before Southwest Christian trimmed the lead to 9-8. Steffes completed her standout performance with her fifth goal of the night, assisted by Addison Moudry, followed by another from Steffes off a Warner assist to end the quarter up 11-9.
In the fourth, Farmington's defense clamped down, holding the Stars scoreless. Moudry capped the scoring with a goal assisted by Steffes, sealing the 12-9 victory.
