DULUTH, Minn. – The Farmington High School boys and girls cross country teams opened their 2025 season at the Twin Ports Invite on Saturday, August 17, hosted by Duluth East High School. The meet featured a strong field of competitors from across the state, offering an early-season test on the challenging Enger Park course.
RECAP
The Farmington boys varsity team started the season on a high note, capturing first place with a team score of 38. The Tigers placed five runners in the top 15, edging out St. Michael-Albertville (51) and Duluth East (63) for the team title. Sophomore Carter Lippold led the way with a personal-best time of 16:27.80, placing second overall. Close behind was junior Patrick Carroll, who clocked a 16:33.70 to take third. Senior Adam Johnson secured fourth place in 16:58.70, giving the Tigers a dominant 2-3-4 finish.
Sophomores Derek Sullivan (17:40.10) and Kieran Willenbring (17:57.10), along with junior Evan Buss (17:40.80), rounded out Farmington's scoring five with personal-best performances.
On the girls side, the Tigers finished third overall with a team score of 55, just behind Duluth East (51) and team champion St. Michael-Albertville (29). Junior Lauren Lansing led the Farmington effort with a runner-up finish in 18:58.40. Ninth-grader Mara Brock impressed in her varsity debut, placing sixth in 19:57.20 and setting a personal best. Senior Sophia Venning (20:53.30), eighth-grader Shelby Carroll (20:54.30), and junior Lillian Reuss (21:09.90) each contributed key points to secure the third-place team finish.
