FARMINGTON, Minn. – Farmington High School hosted the annual Cowbell Classic on Thursday afternoon at Dodge Middle School, welcoming dozens of teams to one of the largest cross country meets in the region. The Tigers made the most of their home course advantage, with the girls team capturing 1st place out of 32 teams and the boys earning an impressive 2nd place finish out of 33 teams.
GIRLS VARSITY RECAP
The girls dominated the 5,000-meter race, placing all five scoring runners in the top 30 to edge out the competition for the team title. Junior Lauren Lansing led the way with a 2nd-place overall finish in 18:50.36. Eighth-grader Shelby Carroll crossed the line in 20:11.46, followed closely by ninth-grader Mara Brock (20:21.22) and eighth-grader Mia Tooley (20:30.29). Junior Lillian Reuss rounded out the scoring pack with a 21:20.82 finish.
With consistent pack running and depth in the lineup, the Tigers showed both talent and balance en route to the team victory.
BOYS VARSITY RECAP
On the boys side, Farmington placed second in the team standings behind five top-35 individual finishes. Sophomore Carter Lippold paced the Tigers with a 5th-place overall finish in 16:14.07, and junior Patrick Carroll followed closely in 7th place with a personal-best time of 16:19.10.
Senior Adam Johnson (16:56.06), sophomore Kieran Willenbring (17:22.46), and junior Evan Buss (17:30.13) rounded out the scoring group for Farmington. The Tigers' depth was on display with all seven varsity runners finishing in the top 75 of a deep and competitive field.
UP NEXT
The Tigers continue their season on Wednesday, Oct. 1, when both the boys and girls teams travel to St. Michael-Albertville for an invitational meet.
