FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers volleyball team opened their 2025 campaign with a hard-fought home match against Northfield on Thursday night, taking the first two sets before eventually falling in five: 30-28, 25-21, 21-25, 24-26, 12-15.
Farmington came out sharp in the opening sets, edging Northfield in a back-and-forth first set and following with a strong finish in the second to go up 2-0. Northfield responded with steady play in the third and fourth sets, setting up a decisive fifth frame that saw the Raiders narrowly outlast the Tigers.
Despite the result, Farmington delivered several standout performances in a match that saw 92 total team digs and 59 assists. Taylor Hagedorn tallied 17 digs, four aces, and held a 100% serve rate. Lexi West added 18 digs with a 1.76 serve receive rating and a perfect 95.2% serve percentage. Braelyn Hendrickson posted a team-high 2.5 blocks, while also contributing nine digs and an ace.
Sabrina Caven (.154 hitting) and Addison Otto (.250 hitting) were efficient on the attack, helping pace the offense. Addi Gibart and Kayla Trembley also added blocks in a match that featured long rallies and momentum swings throughout.
The Tigers served at a 98.2% clip and out-dug the Raiders 92-78, but were ultimately edged in total blocks and offensive efficiency as Northfield closed the final set 15-12.
UP NEXT
Farmington will look to bounce back on Monday, August 25, when they host Rochester Century in a non-conference matchup at Farmington High School. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
