FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls volleyball team came up just short in a back-and-forth five-set match against Owatonna on Tuesday night. The Tigers won the first and third sets but were unable to close out the Huskies, who rallied late to claim a 3-2 victory by set scores of 25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 14-25, 12-15.

Farmington started strong with a 25-22 win in the opening set, fueled by efficient attacking and solid serving. Owatonna responded in a tight second set, edging the Tigers 25-23 to even the match. The Tigers bounced back in the third, winning 25-19 behind strong net play and timely digs. However, the momentum shifted in the fourth set as the Huskies dominated 25-14 to force a decisive fifth. In the final frame, Farmington battled to the end but fell 15-12 as Owatonna completed the comeback.
TOP TIGERS
Junior Addison Otto led the Tigers offensively, finishing with a team-best .263 hitting percentage and five kills. Sabrina Caven added 12 kills while hitting .229, and Braelyn Hendrickson contributed eight kills. Elexis West and Taylor Hagedorn combined for 36 assists, while Kayley Schuenemann and Scarlett Hedrick anchored the back row with serve receive ratings of 3.00 and 2.50, respectively. Defensively, Farmington tallied 61 digs and 11 team blocks.

Farmington returns to action on Wednesday, September 10, when they host Apple Valley in a South Suburban Conference matchup. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Tiger Gym.
