OAKDALE, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls volleyball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, Sept. 6, going a perfect 5-0 to win the Wally Wakefield Invitational hosted at Tartan High School. The Tigers battled through five matches, including a pair of three-set victories in bracket play, to bring home the tournament title.

RECAP
Farmington opened the day with a strong start, sweeping host Tartan 2-0 behind a 26-15, 25-23 result. The Tigers showed poise in the second set to hold off a late push and set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

In pool play, the Tigers split matches with New Life Academy (22-25, 26-23) and Grand Rapids (25-19, 22-25), earning a spot in the championship bracket. Farmington avenged the earlier tie with New Life Academy in their next match, coming out on top 2-1 in a competitive battle. The Tigers took the opening set 25-20, dropped the second 18-25, and closed it out 15-13 in the third.

In the championship match against Grand Rapids, Farmington once again showed resilience. After taking the first set 27-25, the Tigers dropped the second 20-25 before dominating the final set 15-9 to secure the tournament crown.

TOP TIGERS
Farmington's depth was on full display throughout the day, with contributions across the board in both offensive execution and defensive coverage. The Tigers consistently applied pressure at the net and served effectively to keep opponents out of system. Key third-set victories in both bracket matches highlighted the team's composure and conditioning down the stretch.

UP NEXT
Farmington returns to South Suburban Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 10, with a road match at Rosemount. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
