In a spectacular finish to the 25-26 Minnesota Debate season, Farmington Debaters Nikola Nounawon-Castro and Will Cannon qualified for the National Speech and Debate Tournament held in Richmond, Virginia June 14-19, 2026. This will be Nounawon-Castro and Cannon's second year qualifying for the NSDA National Tournament.

Nounawon-Castro and Cannon were top seed entering the final round of competition and won their last round against Wayzata which added to their current win streak of 19-0.

Additionally, finishing preliminary competition with a record of 2-2, Rhea Steir and Aimee Assanga represented Farmington with a solid performance for their first time at this competition.

This year's national debate topic focused on exploration and development of the Arctic.
