Making her state tournament debut, Friesz opened the championship with a strong first-round score of 79. She carded a 37 on the front nine and a 42 on the back nine, putting her in a tie for 24th place after the opening day of competition.

Competing against many of Minnesota's top-ranked golfers, Friesz returned to the course on day two and recorded an 84 to finish with a 36-hole total of 163.
