Farmington Girls Hockey hosted the 18th Annual Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic at Schmitz-Maki Arena over break. The Tigers welcomed New Prague, Chisago Lakes, Owatonna, Northfield, East Ridge, Simley, and Eastview to town.
The Tigers went 2-1 in the tournament defeating Owatonna and East Ridge and lost to Northfield.
In game one, Farmington defeated Owatonna 5-1. The Tigers and Huskies would end the first period knotted at 1 after
Abby Gehrke found the back of the net for the Tigers. Owatonna would answer back just 1 minute later.
In period number two,
Makenna Kadrlik and
Alexa Bricko scored goals. The Tiger defense kept the Huskies scoreless. In period number three,
Alexa Bricko added her second goal of the night and
Madison Kadrlik lit the lamp for her first goal of the game.
Farmington dominated the shots on goal 44-24.

Game number two was a tough Section 1 AA battle with Northfield. The two teams remained scoreless until the second period when Northfield scored an even strength goal to earn the lead. Northfield would score once more in the third period and Farmington was unable to generate any offense. The Tigers were 0 for 3 on power plays on the night.

The Tigers got back on track in the tournament's final game. A huge second period lead to a 7-4 victory over the Raptors.Â
In period number one,
Kennedy Meier scored two goals. Goal number one was an even strength goal and her second goal was on the power play.Â
In the second period, the Tigers exploded.
Makenna Kadrlik scored three goals and
Abby Gehrke scored one to build a 6-1 lead.
East Ridge would attempt a comeback coming as close as 6-3 in the game before
Kennedy Meier scored the Tigers' 7th goal. Farmington was a perfect 2 for 2 on the power play.
