PRIOR LAKE, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers continued their strong start to the season with a 5-4 overtime victory against Prior Lake on Saturday afternoon at the Dakotah! Ice Center. The win pushes the Tigers to 8-2-1 overall and 6-0-1 in South Suburban Conference play.
RECAP
Farmington struck early in the first period with back-to-back goals from Jenna Goblirsch and Amelia Goblirsch to take a 2-0 lead just over four minutes into the game. Prior Lake cut into the lead later in the period, making it 2-1 heading into the second.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second frame, but a high-paced third period followed. Jenna Goblirsch netted her second goal of the game on the power play at 4:42, assisted by Payton Blom and Amelia Goblirsch, giving the Tigers a 3-1 advantage.
Prior Lake stormed back with two quick goals midway through the third to even the score at 3-3. Payton Blom responded for Farmington with a goal at 13:21, putting the Tigers ahead 4-3, before Prior Lake tied it once more with under a minute to play, forcing overtime.
In the extra session, Ryann Bengston delivered the game-winner at 4:00, set up by Blom and Ava Garofalo, to lift Farmington to the 5-4 win. The Tigers went 1-for-3 on the power play and successfully killed off all four Prior Lake opportunities.
