Eagan, Minn. -- In a decisive girls hockey match on December 14, the Farmington Tigers showcased their power, besting the Eagan Wildcats with a convincing 4-0 victory.
With this win, the Tigers improve their season record to an impressive 7-1, maintaining a solid 6-1 standing in the SSC.
The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, resulting in a scoreless draw. However, the Tigers seized control in the second period when #3 Kennedy Meier netted a goal at the 16:07 mark, securing the lead with an even-strength play, assisted by #12 Norah Kratz and #18 Paige Johnson.
Entering the third period with a 1-0 advantage, Farmington continued to dominate. At 9:37, #18 Paige Johnson capitalized on a short-handed opportunity, extending the lead to 2-0 with an assist from #26 Morgan Mitchell. The Tigers didn't stop there, as #19 Layla Garofalo added to the scoreboard at 13:17, converting on a power play assisted by #26 Morgan Mitchell and #15 Jenna Goblirsch. The final blow came at 16:46 when Garofalo struck again, securing a 4-0 victory with an even-strength goal assisted by #21 Taylor Risch.
Farmington's power play proved effective, going 1 for 5 (20.0%), while Eagan struggled with a 0 for 3 (0.0%) performance. The Tigers dominated the shots on goal, outshooting the Wildcats 28-12.Â
