Farmington, Minn. -- Farmington boys hockey hosted Section 1AA opponent Owatonna on Friday, December 1 in their season opener. The Tigers battled Owatonna to a 4-3 loss.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the first period, however, the period would end 0-0.
Owatonna scored the game's first goal in the second period on a Tigers' turnover to lead 1-0. The Huskies tacked on another second period goal shortly after their first to build a 2-0 lead.
Farmington's Jackson Donahue would score the season's first goal after picking off a Huskies pass in neutral ice to score the shorthanded goal. The period would end with Owatonna leading 2-1.
Farmington came out of the break with energy and tied the game 2-2 when Jackson Donahue scored second after a Tigers' power play ended. Owatonna answered shortly after to lead by one goal once again.
Moments later on the power play,
Brandon Risch tied the game to make it 3-3.
One final goal from Owatonna came late in the 3rd period to make the game 4-3.
