FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers improved to 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in South Suburban Conference action with a 2-0 victory over the Lakeville North Panthers on Thursday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena.
RECAP
The Tigers opened the scoring midway through the first period on a power play goal from Mason Rodgers at the 4:35 mark. Rodgers capitalized on a man-advantage opportunity, assisted by Tanner Gylling and Tegan Gylling, to give Farmington an early 1-0 lead.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second period, despite Farmington outshooting Lakeville North 16-6 during the frame. The Tigers extended their lead in the third when AJ Vinar scored an even-strength goal at 8:12, set up by Leyton Grant and Caden Sullivan, to secure the two-goal cushion.
Farmington's penalty kill was effective, holding the Panthers scoreless on four power play opportunities. Goaltender Chris Bade recorded a 24-save shutout, backstopping a defensive unit that stayed composed under pressure and limited second-chance looks.
The Tigers finished 1-for-3 on the power play and outshot Lakeville North 33-24 over three periods.
