Shakopee, Minn. -- The Farmington High School girls hockey team remains unbeaten after a 2-0 victory over SSC foe Shakopee on Thursday night.
Farmington (4-0, 2-0 SSC) and Shakopee (1-5, 1-2 SSC) played a scoreless first period at the Shakopee Ice Arena. Farmington's
Layla Garofalo broke the scoring drought in the second period when she found the back of the net at 6:22 courtesy of
Taylor Risch and
Payton Blom.
The second period ended with the Tigers leading 1-0.
In the third period,
Morgan Mitchell scored an even strength goal on an empty net assisted by
Amelia Goblirsch to extend the Tigers' lead to 2-0.
Makena Underwood played well in net for Farmington picking up the shutout victory stopping all 34 shots she faced.
