Farmington, Minn. -- In a boys hockey showdown at Farmington High School on Saturday, the Tigers faced off against the Eagan Wildcats, marking the Hockey Fights Cancer day in Farmington. The game day featured various fundraising events, including Chuck a Puck for Boys and Girls Varsity, Cindi's Sweets HFC Cookie Sales, the "I Fight For" Sign Table, and Raffle Baskets with enticing prizes. The BAND added a lively atmosphere to the Varsity contests. Proceeds from the Hockey Fights Cancer Event were split between a Farmington Hockey Family battling the disease and the Goliath Project, a non-profit supporting cancer survivor student athletes.
Despite the community's spirited support, Farmington High School couldn't secure a win on home ice, falling to the Eagan Wildcats with a final score of 4-2. The scoring summary began in the first period when Eagan's #7 Blake Prouty, #26 Ben Steinke, and #11 Hudson Kerr netted three goals. The second period remained scoreless, but Eagan extended their lead in the third with a goal from #12 Isaac Martin. Farmington responded with a power-play goal by #22 Jackson Donahue and another by #29 Brandon Risch. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Eagan's lead. In the end, Eagan emerged victorious with a 4-2 win. The game totals reflected Eagan's dominance in shots, outshooting Farmington 33 to 21. Both teams had equal penalties, with 4 minutes each on 2 infractions. Despite Farmington's efforts, Eagan's goals secured the victory on this Hockey Fights Cancer day.
