FARMINGTON, Minn. – On Military Appreciation Night and in their home opener, the Farmington Tigers secured a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory over the Prior Lake Lakers in South Suburban Conference play at Schmitz-Maki Arena on Thursday night. The win elevates Farmington to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in SSC action, putting them atop the conference standings.
RECAP
The game started with Prior Lake taking an early lead as Raya Mathiason scored just 2:25 into the first period. Farmington responded in the second period with a dominant performance from Taylor Risch, who tied the game at 7:09 with a goal assisted by Jenna Goblirsch and Josey Empey. Risch added a second goal on a power play at 11:10 with an assist from Lexi Giller, giving the Tigers a 2-1 advantage heading into the final frame.
Prior Lake evened the score late in the third period with a goal by Sydney Kashmark at 16:28, forcing overtime.
In the extra session, Risch delivered the game-winner at 6:45, completing her hat trick with a breakaway, short-handed goal that sealed the deal for the Tigers.

Farmington's penalty kill was a difference-maker, holding Prior Lake to 0-for-4 on the power play while scoring a short-handed goal in overtime.

The Tigers hit the road again to face Benilde-St. Margaret's on Wednesday, December 4, at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Louis Park Rec Center.
