OWATONNA, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers came up short in a thrilling overtime matchup against the Owatonna Huskies, losing 4-3 on Thursday night at Four Seasons Centre. The Tigers fought hard in a back-and-forth contest, but a decisive goal in the extra frame secured the win for Owatonna.
RECAP
Farmington struck first just over two minutes into the game when Jacob Miller capitalized on an assist from Nick Marsh to give the Tigers an early 1-0 lead. However, Owatonna responded with two first-period goals, including an even-strength tally by Grady Roush and another from Andrew Mitchell, to take a 2-1 advantage into the first intermission.
In the second period, Tanner Gylling tied the game for Farmington on a power-play goal set up by Drake Anderson and Jackson Donahue. The Huskies regained the lead shortly after, with Zachary Klecker scoring at the 6:02 mark. Farmington answered again as Jack Budde found the back of the net late in the period, assisted by Kellen Conway, to knot the score at 3-3 heading into the final frame.
Both teams tightened defensively in the third period, and despite Farmington outshooting Owatonna 16-4, neither team managed to break the deadlock. In overtime, Owatonna's Zachary Knott delivered the game-winning goal at 3:24, assisted by Andrew Mitchell, to seal the victory for the Huskies.
