FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers clinched the 20th Annual Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic title with a thrilling 5-4 overtime victory over the Northfield Raiders on Saturday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena. The win propels Farmington to a 10-4-1 overall record and 6-1-1 in South Suburban Conference play.

In a battle of unbeaten teams in the tournament, Farmington struck first with a goal from Amelia Goblirsch at 8:20 of the opening period, assisted by Kennedy Meier. Northfield quickly responded, but the Tigers regained the lead at 14:45 when Josey Empey scored on the power play, assisted by Addison Moudry and Goblirsch.
The back-and-forth action continued in the second period. Northfield tied the game early on a power play before Farmington's Ryann Bengston gave the Tigers a 3-2 lead midway through the frame, assisted by Paige Johnson. Northfield knotted things up again just before the second intermission.
Farmington reclaimed the lead in the third period when Julia Gerwing netted a goal at 9:26, with Johnson earning her second assist of the game. Northfield, however, capitalized on a late power play to force overtime.
Just 13 seconds into overtime, Taylor Risch delivered the game-winner, finishing off a setup by Meier and Jenna Goblirsch to secure the tournament championship for the Tigers.
