ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers opened the Capitol City Classic at Hamline University with a statement win, defeating the St. Louis Park Orioles 92-80 in the tournament's first round. The Tigers' second-half surge propelled them past the Orioles after trailing by seven at halftime.
RECAP
St. Louis Park came out firing, scoring 52 points in the first half to take a 52-45 lead into the break. However, Farmington responded in the second half, outscoring the Orioles 47-28 with improved defense and efficient shooting.
Ryan Beckwith led the charge for the Tigers with a game-high 32 points, showcasing his scoring ability from all areas of the floor. Cole Wilcek provided valuable support with 16 points, while Marshall Gordon added 12 points to help secure the win.
Despite a combined 54 points from St. Louis Park's Micah Curtis and Rashaad Kimber, the Tigers' balanced attack and second-half adjustments proved to be the difference.
