New Prague, Minn. -- In a thrilling Section 1AA quarterfinal matchup, the #6 seeded Farmington Tigers secured a hard-fought victory over the #3 seeded New Prague Trojans, setting the stage for a showdown with the #2 seeded Rochester Century/John Marshall team in the semifinals.
The game unfolded with the Trojans taking an early lead in the first period, courtesy of #28 Eric Berg's goal at the 6:04 mark, assisted by #10 Will Seymour and #17 Connor Williams.
However, the Tigers swiftly responded in the second period, with #17
Jordan Karich netting the equalizer at 2:26. New Prague regained the lead with a power-play goal from Seymour at 8:19, assisted by Michael Beckius and Williams. Yet, Farmington quickly countered, as #8
Nick Marsh found the back of the net at 8:38, assisted by #22
Jackson Donahue, knotting the score at 2-2.
With the third period ending in a stalemate, the game extended into overtime.
The decisive moment came at 2:44 into overtime, when Farmington's #7
Evrett Bennett capitalized on a Trojan turnover, sealing the victory with a breakaway goal and securing a 3-2 win for the Tigers.
