DULUTH, Minn. -- Farmington High School's cross country teams showcased impressive performances at the annual Twin Ports Invitational held at Lester Park Golf Course in Duluth, MN.
Both the boys and girls teams finished in second place, narrowly missing the top spot in a highly competitive field.
The boys team delivered a strong effort, securing a second-place finish with 49 points, just one point behind the champions, Duluth East, who finished with 28 points. Senior Patrick Carroll led the Tigers, finishing third overall with a time of 17:21.40. Close behind, senior Adam Johnson placed sixth with a time of 17:39.70. Additional key contributions came from Carter Lippold, who finished 12th with a time of 18:06.20, and Evan Buss, who took 13th with a time of 18:23.00. Their collective performance helped Farmington secure their runner-up position against strong competition from Hibbing and Centennial.
On the girls side, Farmington also finished in second place, trailing Duluth East who took first with 29 points. The Tigers scored 62 points, edging out Hibbing and Centennial. Lauren Lansing was the top finisher for Farmington, crossing the line in fifth place with a time of 20:05.40. Sophia Venning and Brylee Cavanaugh contributed valuable points with finishes of 12th and 13th, respectively. Mara Brock and Lillian Reuss also added to the team's effort, finishing 14th and 18th.
