FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls soccer team fell to the Hastings Raiders 2-1 in a hard-fought match on Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Despite an impressive goal late in the first half, the Tigers were unable to complete the comeback and remain winless in non-conference action.
RECAP
Hastings started strong, scoring just over three minutes into the contest to take an early 1-0 lead. With eight minutes remaining in the first half, the Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 with a long lob shot from 35 yards out that snuck over the Farmington keeper's head.
The Tigers responded in the final minutes of the first half, as Katelyn Kiage's throw-in found Mackenzie Colsant, who delivered a perfectly placed pass to Summer Groff. Groff, in full stride, sent a shot across the field into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Both teams played solid defense in the second half, resulting in a scoreless remainder of the match. Despite several attempts, Farmington could not find the equalizer.
