FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers put forth a valiant effort but fell 5-3 to the Rosemount Irish on Saturday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena. The Tigers capitalized on key opportunities but couldn't overcome Rosemount's high-powered attack, which entered the game with just one South Suburban Conference loss. With the result, Farmington drops to 5-8-1 overall and 2-6-0 in the SSC.
RECAP
Farmington struck first in the opening period, as Jacob Miller netted a goal just over four minutes into the game, assisted by Tegan and Tanner Gylling. Rosemount responded late in the period when Sam Schmucker tied it at 1-1 with an even-strength goal.
Rosemount carried its momentum into the second period, scoring twice within a three-minute span. Benny Rutzick and Gavin McNeil found the back of the net to give the Irish a 3-1 lead heading into the final frame.
In the third period, the Irish extended their lead to 5-1 with goals from Quinton VeDepo on the power play and Christian Garrity at even strength. Farmington rallied late, scoring twice in quick succession. Jackson Donahue capitalized on a power play opportunity, assisted by Nick Marsh and Jacob Miller, while Will Harris added another tally with helpers from Justin Harrison and Kellen Conway. Despite the late push, Rosemount's defense held firm to secure the victory.
Farmington goaltender Chris Bade was outstanding in net, turning aside 52 of 57 shots faced.
