FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers earned a monumental 2-0 victory over the Rosemount Irish on Saturday night at Schmitz-Maki Arena, claiming sole possession of first place in the South Suburban Conference standings. The game was not only pivotal for the conference race but also held special significance as the Tigers hosted their annual Hockey Fights Cancer night. Farmington, now 13-5-1 overall and 9-1-1 in SSC play, avenged their earlier loss to Rosemount from November 21 and solidified their position atop the league standings.

The game featured a defensive showcase, with neither team finding the back of the net through the first two periods. Both squads displayed exceptional penalty kills and goaltending to keep the score locked at 0-0 entering the third period.
Farmington finally broke through at 4:18 of the third period on the power play. Taylor Risch scored the opening goal with assists from Jenna Goblirsch and Amelia Goblirsch, igniting the home crowd. Later, with just under a minute remaining, Amara Zens sealed the win with an empty-net goal, giving the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers' defense and goaltender Addison Moudry were impeccable, holding Rosemount's offense in check. Moudry stopped all 17 shots she faced, earning the shutout victory.

Farmington will step out of conference play as they host Hastings on Tuesday, January 14, for a non-conference game against the Raiders. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
