Boys Hockey Opens Season with 4-2 Win Over Owatonna

FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington boys hockey team opened its 2025-26 season with a strong showing on Thursday night, earning a 4-2 home victory over Owatonna at Schmitz-Maki Arena. The Tigers used a fast start and a 49-shot effort to secure the season-opening win in front of their home crowd.

RECAP
Farmington wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard. Mason Rodgers got the Tigers rolling just over two minutes into the game with an even-strength goal assisted by Joe Hambrecht and Isaac Dapper. Less than three minutes later, Will Harris extended the lead to 2-0 with an unassisted goal. Owatonna responded quickly with a pair of goals from Jackson Kath and Zachary Klecker to even the score, but Harris struck again at 9:29 to give Farmington a 3-2 lead after one.

The second period saw no scoring but featured sustained offensive pressure from the Tigers, who outshot Owatonna 49-15 in the game. Farmington added one more insurance goal in the third when Hambrecht buried a shot off a setup from Jacob Whirley at the 10:03 mark.

Despite going 0-for-4 on the power play, the Tigers controlled possession for much of the night and limited Owatonna's opportunities. Farmington goaltender Chris Bade made 13 saves on 15 shots to earn the win.
