FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington girls hockey team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 6-2 to a talented Edina squad at Schmitz-Maki Arena. With the defeat, the Tigers move to 4-1 on the season.

The Tigers struck first, with Amelia Goblirsch scoring just 2:10 into the opening period on an even-strength goal assisted by Norah Kratz. However, Edina answered with a pair of power-play goals later in the period, taking a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
In the second, the Hornets extended their lead with an even-strength goal at 4:55. Farmington responded at 11:47 when Payton Blom scored off a feed from Charlotte Mahowald, cutting the deficit to 3-2. But Edina added another tally late in the period to make it 4-2 heading into the third.
The Hornets put the game away with two more goals in the final frame, including a second-period hat trick finisher from Hazel Schenkelberg and a goal from Audrey Davis, who finished with three points. Edina outshot Farmington 45-18 and went 2-for-6 on the power play, while the Tigers were 0-for-3 with the advantage.
Goaltender Makena Underwood made 39 saves in net for Farmington, facing consistent pressure throughout the contest.

Farmington looks to bounce back following the Thanksgiving break as they return to Schmitz-Maki Arena on Friday, November 29, for a non-conference matchup against the Blake Bears. Puck drop is set for 2:00 p.m.
