HUTCHINSON, Minn. – The Farmington High School girls wrestling team hit the mat at the Buffalo Wild Wings Hutchinson High School Girls Wrestling Invitational on Saturday, November 29, with multiple athletes battling through deep brackets and showcasing early-season strength. Sophomore Lex Thovson led the Tigers with a championship performance at 124 pounds, and was honored as the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler for her dominant effort.

Lex Thovson went a perfect 5-0 on the day to secure the title at 124 pounds. After receiving a first-round bye, she made quick work of her next two opponents with a first-period fall and a 19-3 technical fall in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Thovson dominated with a 21-6 technical fall over Kathryn Marstein of Princeton. She capped her day with a hard-fought 5-3 decision over Ellie Westerman of Eagan in the championship match to earn the top podium spot. Thovson's outstanding performance across five matches earned her recognition as the tournament's Outstanding Wrestler.
Also competing for the Tigers was freshman Kennedi Lazaretti at 170 pounds. Lazaretti picked up two wins, including a pin in the round of 16 and a 10-3 decision in the consolation bracket. She placed sixth in her weight class after dropping her final match in the fifth-place bout.
Eighth grader Sophia Graham advanced to the finals at 235 pounds after a semifinal pin, ultimately placing second after falling in the championship match to Sophie Morales of Shakopee.

Farmington returns to the mat on Friday, December 5, with the girls heading to Lake City and the boys team competing at Eastview High School. Both events are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. starts.
