FARMINGTON, Minn. – The #4 seeded Farmington Tigers held off a relentless comeback effort by the #5 seeded New Prague Trojans, securing a 71-64 victory in the Section 1 Class AAAA quarterfinals on Wednesday, February 26, at Farmington High School.
RECAP
Farmington came out strong, building multiple double-digit leads throughout the night behind their aggressive defense and efficient offense. However, New Prague refused to go away, battling back each time to keep the game within reach.
The Tigers were led by a dominant performance from Gianna Carpentier, who poured in 24 points to pace the offense. Ali Simonson added 14 points, while Macie Henrikson contributed 10 points to help Farmington maintain their advantage. Ashley Harrison chipped in eight points, and Hannah Hansen provided key baskets down the stretch with seven points.
New Prague kept the game close behind strong outings from Lily Schoenecker and Katie Boulanger, who each scored 18 points, and Maya Kilian, who added 16.
Farmington made critical defensive stops late in the game and converted key free throws to secure the win and advance to the next round.
