ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers wrapped up an exciting weekend at the MSHSL State Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, March 1, at the Xcel Energy Center. With two wrestlers—
Tyler Chenevert (121) and
Davis Parrow (145)—competing on Day 2, Farmington showcased its strength against the state's best.
RECAP
At 121 pounds, senior
Tyler Chenevert opened his state tournament with a dominant tech fall victory at 4:55 over Robb from Owatonna. However, he fell in the quarterfinals to Nichols of Edina by major decision, 12-4. Chenevert responded in the wrestlebacks with a commanding 17-6 win over Gau from Champlin Park, securing his spot in Day 2 and earning his 100th career victory as a Tiger.
On Saturday, Chenevert faced Heim from Shakopee in a hard-fought match but came up short, falling 7-2. The loss concludes an outstanding career for Chenevert, who leaves a lasting impact on the Farmington wrestling program.
At 145 pounds,
Davis Parrow remained unbeaten in his quest for back-to-back state titles. The junior dominated his first-round opponent, pinning Johnson from Blaine at 3:48. In the quarterfinals, he met a familiar opponent in Prouty from Apple Valley—whom he had defeated in the section tournament—and secured another commanding victory, winning by tech fall 21-4 to move on to the semifinals.
Parrow continued his dominant run with a 13-3 major decision over Leonard from Stillwater in the semifinals, advancing to the championship match at 145 pounds. In a highly competitive final against Vanier from Eden Prairie, Parrow battled to the very end but fell in a 4-2 decision, finishing as the state runner-up.
