FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls soccer team opened the 2025 season at home on Wednesday night, earning a 1-1 draw against the visiting Rochester Century Panthers in a competitive non-conference contest. The match marked both the season and home opener for the Tigers.
RECAP
The game was evenly matched from the start, with both teams maintaining near-identical possession numbers—Farmington narrowly edged the Panthers with 50.3% to 49.7%. The Tigers created scoring opportunities throughout the match, registering eight shots and five corner kicks, but were met by a strong effort from the Century defense and goalkeeper.
Farmington struck first midway through the opening half, capitalizing on a sustained build-up in the midfield. The Tigers' ball movement led to a clean finish from inside the box, giving the home side an early 1-0 advantage.
Rochester Century responded before halftime, converting one of their 11 total shots into the equalizer. Despite additional chances from both sides in the second half—including multiple crosses and set pieces—the score held through full time.
Farmington finished the match with 223 total passes, completing 56% of them, and demonstrated consistent midfield control, completing 59% of their passes in that area.

- Farmington's midfield controlled much of the tempo, completing over 120 passes and helping transition into attack 83 times.
- Defensively, the Tigers held firm late in the match to preserve the draw, with key stops during Century's final attacking pushes.

Farmington heads on the road Saturday, August 24, for a non-conference matchup against Waconia. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. as the Tigers look for their first win of the season.
