Tigers Rally Past Shakopee on Senior Night, Clinch Third Straight SSC Title

FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers softball team closed out the regular season in impressive fashion Thursday night, rallying from an early four-run deficit to defeat the Shakopee Sabers 11-4 on Senior Night at 20655 Flagstaff Ave. With the win, the Tigers secured their third consecutive South Suburban Conference Championship and finished the regular season with a 19-1 overall record and a 13-1 mark in conference play.

Shakopee jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning, using three singles to build momentum. Simon delivered the first run-scoring hit of the game, helping the Sabers take control early.

Farmington responded immediately in the bottom half of the inning. Johannsen connected on a solo home run to left field, while Reller followed with a two-run homer to left, trimming the deficit to 4-3 after one inning.

The Tigers continued to battle back and finally took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Harrison tripled to center field to drive in a run before Farmington added another score on a passed ball, giving the Tigers a 5-4 advantage.

Farmington broke the game open in the sixth inning with six runs. Schuenemann delivered a two-run triple, Johannsen followed with another two-run triple, Harrison added an RBI groundout, and Redman capped the inning with an RBI single as the Tigers extended their lead to 11-4.

Schweich earned the complete-game victory in the circle for Farmington, allowing four runs on seven hits over seven innings while striking out three and walking none.

Farmington totaled 13 hits in the win. Johannsen finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while Reller, Schweich, Leonard, and Judd each collected two hits. Harrison also played a key role offensively with a go-ahead triple during the fifth inning rally.

For Shakopee, Holzhueter and Hanson each recorded two hits, with Hanson driving in two runs.
