AUSTIN, Minn. – The top-seeded Farmington Tigers advanced to the Section 1 Class 4A championship game on Tuesday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over No. 3 Rochester Century at Todd Park. Behind a complete-game shutout from Kayla Schweich and a balanced offensive attack, the Tigers secured their spot in Thursday night's section final.
RECAP
Farmington wasted little time taking control of the semifinal matchup. In the bottom of the first inning, Ellie Peterson launched a two-run home run to left field to give the Tigers an early advantage. Later in the inning, Ashley Harrison added an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.
The Tigers continued to build momentum in the second inning when Peterson delivered a sacrifice fly to score another run, making it 4-0. Farmington added two more runs in the third inning behind an RBI single from Harrison and a sacrifice fly by Paige Fenton.
Schweich continued to dominate inside the circle throughout the afternoon, keeping the Panthers off the scoreboard while the Tigers defense played error-free softball behind her.
Farmington added the final runs of the game in the sixth inning when Addison Leonard connected on a three-run home run to left field, pushing the lead to 9-0 and sealing the Tigers' dominant performance.
The Tigers finished with 10 hits in the contest. Harrison led the way with three hits in three at-bats, while Peterson and Leonard each drove in three runs. Farmington also created pressure on the bases with seven stolen bases, including two from Harrison.
Defensively, the Tigers were sharp throughout the game, committing no errors. Lila Johannsen led the team with eight fielding chances.

Farmington will face No. 2 Lakeville South in the Section 1 Class 4A championship game on Thursday, May 28. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Lakeville North High School.
