Tigers Win Thriller

Tigers take down Lakeville North 22-21 in dramatic fashion

Football hosted Lakeville North on Thursday, October 14 in their final regular season home game of the 2021 season. The Tigers defeated Lakeville North 22-21 in dramatic fashion.

After the first quarter, Lakeville North had built a 14-0 lead. A Tiger turnover in the second quarter, gave North great field position resulting in another touchdown making the score 21-0. Rod Finely got Farmington on the board with a 73-yard rush. The extra point made it 21-7 North.

In the fourth quarter, Connor Weed would score on a 6-yard run to make the score 21-14. With just over 1:00 left in the game, Farmington began their final drive on their own 13 yard line. A sack on first down made it 2nd and 17 on their own 6. The Tigers found themselves looking at a 4th and 14 on their own 9 yard line. On 4th down, Connor Weed found Brody Hanley on a quick out route. Hanley, who caught the ball short of the first down, broke a tackle and muscled his way for a 16 yard gain to keep the drive alive. Farmington drove the ball down to the Lakeville North 28 yard line, however, time was running out. In one of the most amazing plays, Connor Weed found Austin Eldeen across the middle who made a quick lateral pass to Ben Buesgens resulting in a 28-yard touchdown as time expired.

Rather than play for overtime, Farmington elected to go for the 2-point conversion. Connor Weed found Jonathan Shrum in the endzone completing the pass and giving the Tigers the 22-21 victory over Lakeville North. Check out the 28-yard touchdown pass and the 2-point conversion below.

Connor Weed was 21/38, 251 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT on the night. Brendan Ebel caught 7 passes for 65 yards while Ben Buesgens caught 5 passes for 93 yards and 1 TD. Rod Finley rushed 16 times for 95 yards and 1 TD.

Zach Dahl was once again the defensive tackle leader, recording 13 total tackles on the night. Rod Finley had another standout performance on defense, with 11 total tackles.
