EAGAN, Minn. – In a dramatic District Football matchup on Friday night, the Farmington Tigers nearly completed a late comeback but ultimately fell to the Eagan Wildcats, 13-10, in overtime. All 10 of Farmington's points came in the final minutes of regulation before a special teams miscue ended the game in extra time.
Recap
Trailing 10-0 with under four minutes to play, Farmington's offense came alive. Quarterback Cade Boyles found Ty Beck for a 10-yard touchdown to bring the Tigers within three. After the defense forced a fumble on Eagan's next possession, Farmington capitalized on the short field with a 32-yard field goal from Aiden Roche to tie the game at 10-10 and send it to overtime.
Eagan opened the extra period with a 21-yard field goal. On Farmington's possession, the Tigers worked into field goal range and lined up to match Eagan's score. However, a bobbled hold on the kick attempt prevented the Tigers from getting the kick off, allowing the Wildcats to escape with the narrow win.
Farmington's defense kept the Tigers in the game, holding Eagan to just one touchdown and two field goals despite 239 rushing yards by the Wildcats. The Tigers forced a key turnover and recorded several tackles for loss and sacks in a strong all-around performance.
