Farmington Football traveled to Wayzata on Thursday, October 21 to take on the Trojans in their last game of the regular-season.
Both teams started out playing hot despite the cold conditions on Thursday night. Tiger RB
Rod Finley scored first for the Tigers on the opening drive with a short, 1-yard TD run. The Tigers elected to go for 2 giving the ball to RB Rod Finely for the conversion. Farmington led 8-0. The Trojans answered back with a 30-yard passing touchdown from Harvey to Diedrich. Wayzata's extra point made the game 8-7 Farmington.
Near the end of the 1st quarter, QB
Connor Weed was injured. Freshman
Jonah Ask took over starting duties for the Tigers. The Tigers played conservative without their starting quarterback, opting to run the ball or make short throws.
The Tigers were drove down into the red zone before being sacked by the Trojans, forcing a turnover on downs. The Wayzata Trojans marched down into the red zone trying to score before halftime, but
Jonathan Shrum had a huge sack before the end of the half to knock them out of field goal range. Throughout the 2nd quarter, both defenses stepped up keeping the score unchanged through the end of the half.
The Tigers kicked off to the Trojans to start the second half. On the first drive, the Tigers got a sack on third down to make the Trojans punt the ball. The Trojans made their way down to the Farmington 1-yard line. On 3rd down, Farmington forced a fumble and the Tigers recovered on the goal line for a huge stop.
The Tigers could not capitalize on the turnover and had to punt the ball back to the Trojans. The Trojans made their way into the red zone before they scored on a 30 yard touchdown off a slant pass. But the Tigers made the stop on the 2 point conversion attempt tipping a Harvey pass at the line of scrimmage. The Tigers got the ball back after a squib kick earning good field position starting the drive at the Tigers own 40 yard line.
Connor Weed, who came back in the game was sacked on the first play of the drive. With a little over a minute to go in the 4th quarter,
Connor Weed threw a pick six deflating the fans and players hopes of winning the game. After a successful PAT, Wayzata led the game 20-8.

Zach Dahl led the defense with 13 total tackles. Rod Finely had 11 tackles.
