Minnetonka, Minn. -- In a girls hockey matchup on Tuesday, December 19, the Farmington Tigers (8-2, 7-1 SSC) faced a tough challenge against the #2 ranked Minnetonka Skippers (10-1, 2-0 Lake). Unfortunately for Farmington, the game ended in a decisive 9-0 victory for Minnetonka.
The Skippers dominated right from the start, establishing a commanding lead in the first period with five goals. Kendra Distad opened the scoring with a short-handed goal at 7:17, followed by Sydney Boss Krohn, Senja Leeper, Molly Ryan, and Lindzi Avar, contributing to a 5-0 lead.
In the second period, Minnetonka continued their offensive prowess with Lindzi Avar netting another goal, this time at 0:48, along with goals from Bella Finnegan and Lindzi Avar again on the power play and short-handed, respectively. The second period concluded with Minnetonka holding an 8-0 lead.
The third period saw one more goal from Minnetonka, as Molly Ryan capitalized on a power play opportunity at 9:02, securing the 9-0 victory. Farmington struggled to generate offense throughout the game, registering a total of 9 shots compared to Minnetonka's 53.
Despite Farmington's efforts, they were unable to find the back of the net, and Minnetonka's solid defensive play, combined with their effective power play conversions, proved to be the difference. The final score of 9-0 reflected Minnetonka's dominance in the game.
