Farmington, Minn. - The Farmington Tigers softball program earned a pair of impressive SSC and Section 1 victories on Saturday afternoon over Lakeville South.
The Tigers earned a 9-5 victory in game 1. Lakeville South earned the game's first run after a single snuck past the Tigers' left-fielder scoring a run. Two more runs would score before the inning ended giving the Cougars a 3-0 lead headed into the bottom half of the inning.
Farmington got the offense moving in the bottom of the 4th inning when
Olivia McMahon stole home on a wild pitch scoring a run. On the following at-bat,
Hailey Hansen drove in little sister
Hannah Hansen to score another run.
South would score one run in the top of the 5th inning before a big three-run inning from Farmington would give them the 5-4 lead. Another run from Lakeville South in the top of the 6th would tie the game 5-5.
The Tigers would put the game out of reach in the 6th inning after Farmington scored 4 runs to earn the 9-5 victory.
In game 2, Farmington would win 7-1. The Tigers tacked on 4 quick runs in the top of the 2nd inning followed by 2 more in the 3rd. Another run in the 5th inning stretch the Tigers' lead to 7-0. South would not score until the bottom of the 6th inning to make the final 7-1.
The Tigers improve to 6-3 on the year.
