OWATONNA, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls cross country team continued their dominance in the Section 1 Class AAA championships, capturing their 8th consecutive title on Thursday at Owatonna's Brooktree Golf Course. The Tigers secured their spot in the MSHSL Class AAA State Cross Country Meet with a first-place team finish, while Adam Johnson and Patrick Carroll earned individual state berths for the boys after a strong 5th-place team finish.
GIRLS RECAP
The Farmington girls team claimed the Section 1AAA championship with a score of 63 points, finishing ahead of Owatonna (78) and Rochester Century (91). Sophomore Lauren Lansing led the Tigers, placing 3rd overall with a time of 18:50.0. She was followed by junior Sophia Venning in 9th place (19:43.1) and seniors Lindsey Woestehoff (14th, 19:52.4) and Brylee Cavanaugh (15th, 20:03.1). Sophomore Lillian Reuss completed Farmington's scoring five with a 22nd-place finish in 20:32.7.
Farmington's depth shone as 7th-grader Shelby Carroll (23rd, 20:34.0) and 8th-grader Mara Brock (27th, 20:44.3) rounded out the squad, securing the Tigers' top team finish. All seven runners placed in the top 30, sealing the Tigers' path to the state meet.
BOYS RECAP
The Farmington boys team earned 5th place in a competitive field, scoring 109 points. Junior Adam Johnson led the Tigers with a 7th-place finish in 16:23.5, followed by sophomore Patrick Carroll in 11th at 16:43.3. Both Johnson and Carroll qualified individually for the state meet with their strong performances.
Freshman Carter Lippold placed 20th in 17:03.1, while sophomore Evan Buss and freshman Wesley Toensing rounded out Farmington's top five, placing 31st (17:41.4) and 40th (18:08.7), respectively.
