MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls cross country team concluded their outstanding season with a 10th-place finish at the MSHSL Class AAA State Meet on Saturday at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course. Competing against the top teams in the state, the Tigers displayed grit and determination, showcasing the depth that had led them to an 8th consecutive Section 1 AAA championship.
GIRLS RECAP
Sophomore Lauren Lansing led the Tigers, finishing in 45th place with a time of 19:23.8. Lansing set a strong pace early, running the 1600m in 5:54.4 and maintaining consistency through the 3200m. Junior Sophia Venning followed in 85th place, crossing the line in 20:03.4. Seniors Brylee Cavanaugh and Lindsey Woestehoff ran close together, each clocking in at 20:19.1 to place 101st.
The team's top five was rounded out by 8th-grader Mara Brock, who finished 113th with a time of 20:27.5. 7th-grader Shelby Carroll (138th, 20:56.9) and sophomore Lillian Reuss (149th, 21:31.0) also contributed to the Tigers' overall performance, helping secure Farmington's 10th-place team finish with a score of 266 points.
BOYS RECAP
Farmington's boys team was represented by two state qualifiers, junior Adam Johnson and sophomore Patrick Carroll. Johnson completed the 5000m course in 16:59.3 to finish 103rd, while Carroll followed closely, placing 110th with a time of 17:02.4. Both runners showcased Farmington's strength and resilience, representing the Tigers well on the state's biggest stage.
