ROGERS, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers wrestling team wrapped up a successful showing at the 2024 Holiday Matness Invitational at Rogers High School, placing 5th overall in the two-day tournament held on December 27-28. The Tigers were led by championship performances from Ethan Mangowi and Davis Parrow, with strong finishes across multiple weight classes.
RECAP
At 145 pounds, Ethan Mangowi dominated his bracket, winning the title with a decisive 6-3 victory in the championship match. Mangowi's tournament run included a technical fall and major decision en route to the finals.
Davis Parrow continued his stellar season at 152 pounds, finishing 1st after a hard-fought 8-5 sudden victory win in the finals. Parrow was unstoppable throughout the tournament, earning four technical falls in his march to the championship.
Blake Han-Lindemyer (127) and William Preston (215) both reached the podium, finishing 6th and 4th respectively. Han-Lindemyer's path included two wins by fall and a close 12-10 decision in the quarterfinals. Preston advanced to the semifinals before falling to the eventual champion, ultimately securing 4th place with a 5-0 victory in the consolation semis.
Mason Stenson (107) and Josh Walker (189) each claimed 7th place finishes. Stenson battled through the consolation bracket and secured his final placement with a 9-4 decision. Walker rebounded with two wins by fall to cap off his tournament run.
Chase Stevens also impressed at 145 pounds, finishing 4th after a deep run through the consolation bracket that included a fall in just 39 seconds and a 13-0 major decision in the 5th round.
JV AND GIRLS DIVISIONS
Farmington's junior varsity team had several champions, with John Renner, Vincent Jacobs, and Oliver Cook all winning their respective brackets. On the girls' side, Lilliane Stevens claimed the title in her division, further showcasing the depth of the Tigers program.
