Lakeville, Minn. -- In a Thursday afternoon doubleheader between the Farmington Tigers and the Lakeville South Cougars, the Tigers emerged victorious in both contests.
In the first game, Farmington secured a 6-0 win over Lakeville South. The Tigers got off to a strong start in the top of the first inning, with
Kam Hughes scoring on a wild pitch, followed by an error that allowed
Kaydence Moe to score in the second inning. Additional runs came in the fifth and sixth innings, with
Lexi Goring and
Lila Johannsen contributing key hits to extend Farmington's lead.
In the second game, Lakeville South took an early lead in the top of the first inning, but Farmington quickly responded, tying the score at 1-1. The Tigers then surged ahead with a series of walks and a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, taking a 5-1 lead. Olivia McMahon's triple in the bottom of the first further extended Farmington's lead to 5-1. Lakeville South managed to score two more runs in the top of the third inning, but Farmington maintained their advantage. In the bottom of the sixth, Farmington added three more runs, including a double by Lila Johannsen and a triple by Katie Klotz, sealing their 10-3 victory over Lakeville South in the second game of the doubleheader.
After the pair of wins, the Tigers are now 8-1 overall and 8-1 in the SSC.
