Lakeville, Minn. -- In an impressive display of offensive firepower, the Farmington Tigers claimed a decisive 15-4 victory over the Lakeville North Panthers on Monday.
Olivia McMahon emerged as a standout performer for the Tigers, driving in six runs on two hits. Her grand slam to center field in the first inning set the tone for Farmington's dominance, scoring four runs.
Lakeville North managed to respond with a solo home run by Abby Straub in the bottom of the first. However, Farmington extended their advantage with five more runs in the third inning, courtesy of RBI singles by McMahon,
Peyton Boyd, and
Kam Hughes.
Kaydence Moe further solidified the Tigers' lead with a home run to center field in the fourth inning, contributing to the team's commanding offensive display.
Despite Lakeville North's efforts, including Alicia Jeanson's solo home run in the fourth inning, they were unable to contain Farmington's relentless offensive onslaught.
Marissa Mittelstadt led from the circle for Farmington, allowing nine hits and four runs over five innings while striking out five batters. Farmington's offensive prowess was evident, amassing 11 hits in the game.
In addition to McMahon's standout performance, Moe, Hughes, and
Katie Klotz each contributed two hits for the Tigers.
Klotz also demonstrated patience at the plate, leading the team with two walks. Farmington's disciplined approach resulted in a total of seven walks during the game.
For Lakeville North, Hannah Weckman and Alicia Jeanson stood out with two hits each, with Jeanson also leading her team with two RBIs.
With this victory, the Tigers improve their season record to an impressive 16-2, including a dominant 14-1 record in the SSC.
Next on their agenda is a matchup against Prior Lake on Wednesday.
