PINE ISLAND, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers girls wrestling team competed at the Pine Island Panthers Girls Classic on Saturday, showcasing their talent in a challenging tournament. Several Tigers wrestled well against tough competition, with highlights including a third-place finish and multiple pins.
MEET SUMMARY
Farmington's Alexandra Thovson had a strong showing at 112 pounds. Thovson narrowly fell in the championship opening round to Hayden Hawkins of Wabasha-Kellogg by an 8-7 decision. She rebounded in the consolation bracket, pinning Vivian Diaz of South Saint Paul in just 1:39. Thovson ultimately placed fourth after falling to Allison Weinzettel of Hastings in the third-place match by technical fall.
At 142 pounds, Lillian Coyer delivered an impressive performance. Coyer earned two pins on the day, including a second-period fall over Juliet Gilde of Eagan and a quick pin of Alice Nyberg of Hopkins in just 1:10.
At 100 pounds, Lilliane Stevens wrestled in the quarterfinals but was defeated by Adriana Kunz of Triton via fall at 1:14.
