FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers put forth a strong defensive effort but ultimately fell 3-1 to the Class AA No. 3-ranked Minnetonka Skippers in a non-conference showdown at Schmitz-Maki Arena on Tuesday night.
RECAP
Facing one of the top teams in the state, the Tigers showcased their resilience and defensive grit, holding the high-powered Skippers scoreless in the first period. Farmington goaltender Addison Moudry was exceptional between the pipes, stopping all 11 first-period shots and finishing the game with 42 saves on 45 attempts.
Minnetonka broke the deadlock early in the second period when Lauren Mack capitalized on a power play at the 52-second mark. The Tigers' penalty kill faced continued pressure but limited the damage, keeping the deficit at one entering the final frame.
The Skippers extended their lead in the third period with two quick goals from Claire Sommerfeld and Senja Leeper. Farmington responded late when Jenna Goblirsch buried a breakaway shot at 13:50 off a feed from Kennedy Meier, cutting the deficit to two. Despite a late push, the Tigers couldn't bridge the gap further.
Moudry's performance was a highlight, keeping the Tigers within striking distance throughout the contest. Her ability to handle Minnetonka's offensive barrage was crucial in limiting the damage.
