APPLE VALLEY, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers opened their 2025 softball season in dominant fashion on Wednesday, rolling to a 17-0 five-inning win over Eastview in a road matchup highlighted by consistent offense and a one-hit shutout in the circle.
RECAP
Farmington wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in each of the first five innings while piling up 19 hits as a team. The Tigers took an early lead in the top of the first inning when Lila Johannsen drove in the first run of the season with an RBI single.
The Tigers added two more in the second on RBI hits from Kaydence Moe and Lexi Goring. Goring stayed hot throughout the game, finishing with four hits and four RBIs, including a two-run single in the fifth.
Farmington extended its lead to 6-0 in the third on a two-run double by Hannah Hansen and then broke the game wide open in the fourth with six runs on six hits. Johannsen tripled home two runs, Madison Westover added an RBI single, and Moe and Goring each chipped in with run-scoring hits.
The Tigers capped their offensive outburst with five more runs in the fifth, including a sacrifice fly from Olivia Peterson and Goring's final two RBIs of the day.
In the circle, Kayla Schweich was nearly untouchable. The junior right-hander tossed a complete game one-hit shutout, striking out six and walking none over five innings. The defense behind her was equally sharp, turning a double play and committing no errors.
