FARMINGTON, Minn. – The Farmington Tigers softball team put together a dominant performance Wednesday night at Tiger Field, defeating Lakeville South 12-1 to improve to 4-1 overall and 4-1 in South Suburban Conference play. With Rosemount's loss to Eagan and Eastview's win, Farmington now sits in a three-way tie atop the SSC standings.
RECAP
Farmington took control midway through the game and exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning to put things away. Lila Johannsen opened the scoring in the third with an RBI single, and Leah Oistad followed by drawing a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to make it 2-0 Tigers.
After building a steady lead through the middle innings, the Tigers broke the game wide open in the sixth. Johannsen and Oistad each drove in two runs with singles, Peyton Boyd added an RBI single, and Reagan Redman doubled to bring home two more.
Ellie Peterson had a standout night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. Johannsen also tallied three hits and three RBIs, while Oistad matched her with three RBIs of her own. Farmington collected 14 hits as a team, with Lexi Goring and Redman each adding multi-hit games.
Olivia Peterson earned the win, scattering 11 hits over six innings while striking out six and allowing just one run.
